GeoVIS

GeoVIS is property of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and as such is available only for UN Agencies, Organizations and National institutions dealing with FAO. Users not belonging to and not dealing with such organizations are not allowed to use GeoVis.

If you are an FAO partner you can use GeoVIS as freeware. You can download your free copy of the software and request FAO Africover for a software key. Thus, you shall be required to provide us with the registration number that appears after installing the software; we will then provide you with the relevant software key.

GeoVIS has been developed in collaboration with the Italian software house Terranova.

Africover Arcview Extension

Africover produced an Arcview extension that simplifies and automates several tasks of data base management and customization (aggregations, rearranging of information in different fields, etc).

Dynamic Maps : using Africover warehouses

Africover public domain data has been organized in data warehouses to allow you to perform powerful and easy GIS operations. Dynamic Maps is a part of a suite called Dynamic Atlas has been developed by SKE.

You can download your free copy of the software from the FAO Africover web site or directly from the SKE (use the second option to be sure to get the most updated version of the software).

Please note that you need at least one warehouse to be able to use Dynamic Maps; you can download the Africover warehouses from the Africover data page or download sample warehouses from the SKE web site.

If you want to create your own Atlases with your own data for use and distribution, please visit the SKE web site and download the Dynamic Knowledgebase software. SKE can provide you with a license key to get you started.
