Dichotomous Classification Phase
The dichotomous phase consists of three classification
levels, which define eight major land cover classes in the third
level as indicated below :

The classification criteria used in the dichotomous
phase are the presence of vegetation, edaphic condition and artificiality
of land cover. The hierarchical
phase is the following step in the process of legend development.
